Dream music video - Dizzee Rascal

The narrative: his rise to success - his personal journey - autobiographical - inspiring the next generation, directly addressing them. upbeat lyrics. The Genre: Pop, grime & hiphop  The Setting: Playful at first, then it shifts onto an old woman's piano and then on the piano it's got a grime type of vibe. Iconography is more realistic (off license, police) but the props make us change how we feel about it - seems unreal. Not too gritty - just a fantasy.  Props: playful toy colours, light pink, baby blue - yellow suggesting it's going to be upbeat and positive.  Lighting: brightly lit - positive vibes  The puppets could represent mockery on grime the puppets and the fact they're small - idealogical implication of the message of the song and video - loving in the old lady's world. Her house. Ethnicity? Dizzee's world is more run by white people and the puppets are controlled by her. white upper class is more dominate and controlling. the puppets are controlle

Riptide music video

Notes😁✍ the narrative gets it meaning almost word for word from the lyrics - structure is fragmented - the lyrics directly address the narrative.  repetition  "running down to the riptide" - literally matches the visual, literal. sometimes not as straight forward - the money isn't literal; symbolic/metaphorical subtle - green with envy money is green "living on the highest shelf" nobody interested in her - unwanted "I just want know" - predict the future using the prediction cards the makeup on the woman changes and every time it comes to "you're gonna sing the words" - makeup smudged - in the second to last frame, you can gather that she's been crying and she's bruised - domestic abuse; scared. everything about her gets worse including the way she's singing the lyrics. in the final frame, she's bleeding and holding her neck- it's violence against woman as the character progressively worsens.  0 Recurring theme - viol

Sonya's lesson decoding the tide advert

Code Connotations   The gesture code of the woman hugging the Tide product. This has connotations of love and relationships and presents the product as having an important role in her life.    Font: friendly and serious  most advert is informal and friendly (kinder font) the rest of it is formal and more serious (bolder font) the colours of the clothing and makeup The red colours have connotations of seduction as it's quite bold and usually used to create a sexualised image and to make the women look appealing.  The red apron tied around her waist This again has connotations of seduction as when you're doing the cleaning, you tend to want to wear baggy clothing - a woman can look appealing while she does the housework. The smile on her face. it connotates joy she has with this product the hearts above the woman in the advert connotations of love - iconography of love and that she loves it. its important to her

Save the Children Advert

Props  The role of birthday cake. The first time we see the cake, theres a nice cake and three a few candles - the girl is smiling and she's happy. However, the last time that we see the cake at the end of the advert - it's a really small and simple thing with just one candle and the girl isn't happy. it represents how quick something can change and how much she had lost during the attack. - a recurring prop. the role of the white teddy bear that she carried represented the only comfort she had as she kept hugging it and she had it with her a few times. luxuries  when the news come-on in the background, that's when you notice the situation darkens. general convention they ended with the campaign./ they didn't lead it and we wasn't aware of the charity ad until the end. the message was that it may not be happening here but it's happening elsewhere. mode of address- indirect address but it has a direct mode of address when she looks straight at the camera at
